The hustle of securing a visa anytime you want to travel to Europe is to be a thing of the past starting February 2020. As part of new measures stated in the upcoming Visa Code for Schengen countries, applicants with good travel history who have visited the Schengen area a number of times over a period of time would qualify for a longer visa validity starting from one year to five years. That will be a welcome relieve as at the moment only a few applicants are granted multi-year multiple entry visas.
What makes this welcome relief more emphatic is that, all European embassies are mandated under legislation to issue multiple year visas to a section of applicants who qualify. This will place Europe almost at par with the USA who gives 5 years multiple entry visa even for a first-time traveler to the United States. We do hope that; the new code will make Europe as appealing as the United States for many applicants who would qualify for the multiple-year visas who otherwise may have chosen USA over Europe because of this reason.
