Corona virus is shaking the globe, particularly the health and travel sectors. As countries are shutting borders to the worst affected region, airlines are suspending flights to high-risk areas. In perhaps one of the strictest measures taken by an airline in the midst of this crisis, Brussels Airlines is suspending all of its flights entirely from 20th March until 20th April 2020. Flights will gradually be reduced from 17th March until a total suspension on 20th March
This is the statement from Brussels airlines…
Given the extraordinary circumstances caused by the worldwide Coronavirus crisis; the travel restrictions imposed by increasing number of national authorities worldwide, Brussels Airlines has decided to temporarily suspend its flight operations from 20 March 2020.
As of today, 17 March, the airline will gradually reduce its flight schedule until 20 March in a controlled and structured manner in order to bring passengers and crews home. As of tomorrow, 18th of March, all departures from Brussels to Africa will be delayed to the afternoon in order to ensure connectivity with the European flights. This will of course result in a later departure from ACC, for the new departure time please consults the reservation systems.
From 20 March until 19 April included, all flights will be suspended.
Brussels Airlines will continue to keep a minimal capacity on standby base for repatriation flights should this be required. We will continuously monitor the situation and communicate accordingly, planning a restart of our operations on 20 April to welcome our guests on board again.
As announced earlier, Brussels Airlines is offering the opportunity to reschedule flights to a later date: guests have time until the 1st of June to decide on a new travel date. We ask passengers with a flight now until Friday to check the status of their rebooking at brusselsairlines.com under “My Booking”. Guests, who have provided their telephone number or e-mail address during the booking process, as well as members of the frequent flyer programme Miles & More, will be automatically informed about changes in the flight programme by SMS or e-mail.
Passengers whose scheduled flights do not take place in the next 7 days are requested to refrain from contacting our town office or the Service Center in the coming days. This way, they give the agents the opportunity to first take care of those customers who have a prompt departure. We are putting all our efforts into restarting our operations after the crisis.
We thank you for your cooperation in these difficult times.
